Boxless Media is Proud to Present Chicago WingMadness 2014
In 2009/10, I was working for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois. It is one of the most amazing places any one can ever work. Each day, you are moved by a story of a child who is forced to deal with the unimagineable but is given a moment to step away to do something magical. I wanted to make one of these magical experiences possible, so I called my friend, Kathy Posner , and the concept of WingMadness (a wing eating competition between the Chicago Police and Fire Departments) was born. It was our way to make a wish.
Since then, we have raised money for amazing charities like Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois, Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago and Starlight Children’s Foundation. The event is one of the most well-publicized events of its type in the Chicago market. This year, we are proud to bring Chicago WingMadness back. Monies from this year’s event will benefit Easter Seals. Easter Seals Metro Chicago does some amazing things. I have been moved personally by the work that they do with children and individuals with Autism. So the money that we raise this year will directly benefit individuals living with Autism in the Chicagoland area.
Chicago WingMadness would never have been possible without the support of Dick’s Last Resort and its leadership. Dick’s Last Resort has graciously underwritten the entire event this year and each year since its inception. It is an amazing donation that allows us to raise money for some very deserving people. With their support and the support of other sponsors like WCIU, The “U” and 3rd Coast Imaging, we are able to produce an event where 100% of the proceeds directly benefit our charity.
Finally the event would not be possible without two other amazing groups of people – the Chicago Police and Fire Departments. I was privileged enough to spend part of my life a member of a small suburban Chicago fire departmant. These two groups are among the most generous groups of people I know – always committed to do something good for others.
This year, Chicago WingMadness will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at Dick’s Last Resort in Chicago. All the details are at www.ChicagoWingMadness.com. If you are local to the Chicago area, I encourage you to check out the event. It is a great night. If not, I ask you to share information about the event to any friends or work associates you may know in the Chicago area. You can also visit our facebook page at www.facebook.com/ChicagoWingMadness and vote on who think will win… the Police or Fire.
