Social Media By the Numbers [InfoGraphic]
Today I would like to introduce our first attempt at an infographic – a collection of the most recent social media numbers. Each one of these numbers has been researched, validated and confirmed and is accurate as of March 10, 2014. For those who would rather read the text of the blog, the numbers follow.
Facebook (1.23 billion active users)
Facebook is really the center of the social media universe. With the most active users of any platform, Facebook’s user base transcends all demographics and geographies.
YouTube (1 billion registered users)
YouTube is the closest platform to Facebook with more than a billion registered users. It also boasts more than 4 billion views a day making it the second biggest search engine, second only to Google.
Twitter (243 million active users)
Twitter ranks third in our list for a few reasons: first, it has “about a billion” registered users, is one of the most popular networks and we believe is the best source for conversation in social media.
Google+ (300 million active users)
Google+ has magical numbers. With 540 million Google+ accounts, it seems more influential while only around 300 million use the Google+ stream. However if you want to be found online, you must use it.
LinkedIn (277 million active users)
LinkedIn is truly the network to get business done. It is the B2B social marketplace, the world’s largest professional network and currently includes executives from every Fortune 500 company as members.
Instagram (150 million active users)
Instagram is a fun, quirky way to share your life through pictures. But with more than 65% of the world’s top brands on board, Instagram means business. Ellen is the queen of Instagram with more than 4.3 million followers.
Pinterest (70 million active users)
Pinterest is for more than recipes and crafts. With an unparalleled amount of women as subscribers and a growing population of men joining, Pinterest is a tool for collecting and organizing the things that inspire everyone.
